Acid Reflux Home Remedy – The Simple Facts

by Nicholas on October 28, 2009

Hey, my name is Nicholas.

You are here because you suffer from acid reflux or heartburn, and is looking for a acid reflux home remedy. I have suffered from gerd for years, but my symptoms were more severe than most. I had all kinds of other issues of which heartburn was just one, but reflux was the most irritating and the most dangerous.

Try these two natural products to solve your heartburn right now:

  • Raw Unprocessed Honey (a spoon)
  • Apple Cider (a swig)

P.S Do NOT give honey to your baby, its very dangerous

Try the above two items today, it will in the very least give you some relief. It works well for many people, it sometimes worked for me. I know how bad it can get. Unfortunately these items are only ways to manage your gastroesophageal reflux disease, not heal it completely.

In this post I  share with you how I live reflux free, the dangers of antacids and proton pump inhibitors (Nexium, Zantac) and the lifestyle changes I had to make. Nothing beats hard, clinical research and the process that finally brought it all together for me was a 5 step holistic, natural process. Click here if you want to see the product.

Antacids and Proton Pump Inhibitors are dangerous!

I suffered from severe heartburn, so much so that it was starting to have a very negative effect on my quality of life.

I also experienced the following acid reflux symptoms:

  • Bloated stomach and constipation
  • Pain in my upper and lower abdomen
  • Burning throat and sore throat

I was a heavy antacids user, after years of use I started noticing all kinds of other things going wrong in my body. I had to find another way to cure my heartburn. I also had to know what these other symptoms were and what was causing them. I went to many different doctors and specialists. I went for endoscopes (swallowing a camera) on two different occasions. Nobody could give me a straight answer.

In the end I was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome, which actually means they don’t really know what’s wrong. I started drinking Nexium (proton pump inhibitor) and this worked very well for me. The word “inhibitor” really bothered me though. This pill is inhibiting a natural function of my body. I did some research and realized that over a short term these types of medication is fine, but long term they will have a negative effect on my body.

Many thousands of dollars later I decided to take things into my own hands, I started experimenting with lifestyle and diet changes to find a natural acid reflux home remedy.

I am a firm believer in natural healing. Following is a list of food and substances I had to cut out of my diet completely. This was no acid reflux cure, but it solved many of my problems.

The simple truth is, one process took me by the hand, and showed me step by step one of the easiest and most unique methods to heal my acid reflux and related symptoms for good.

Click here to visit the “Heartburn No More – 5 Step Holistic Natural Process” website.

The food and substances I had to cut out of my diet.

Four  top this list:

  • Coffee
  • Smoking
  • Painkillers
  • Alcohol (especially beer)

This is not true for everyone, but using less of the above four or cutting them out completely had a massive impact on my heartburn pain.

What MUST you do to begin heartburn treatment, no matter what system or medication you use:

  • Get rid of Stress, at least manage stress! I think this is the biggest cause of acid reflux
  • Drink at least three liters water every day (one glass after every meal)
  • Eat in small amounts all the time, breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack
  • Exercise your body, nothing fancy, start with going for a brisk 20min walk
  • Eat wholesome fresh food, try to eat less bread, especially white bread
  • Eat lots of fresh green vegetables

If I knew that all my years of research and trial and error was already packaged in a simple 5 step holistic process, I would have happily given my little finger. One thing I did not like about the “Heartburn No More” system was the fact that they do not give you enough awareness of the possible side-effects of medication and antacids. That said, this system gives much more that just lifestyle and diet changes, it shows many other things we acid reflux sufferers MUST be aware of, it helped bridge the gap and heal my acid reflux for good!

Healing Your Heartburn

by Nicholas on October 26, 2009

Heartburn can become a big irritation and drinking anti-acids like Gaviscon, Rennies, Eno’s etc is not the answer. The answer lies in simple diet changes.

I used my own heartburn problem to test for solutions.

There are obvious food and substances to avoid, the short list being:

  • Coffee
  • Painkillers
  • Smoking

These are the main three culprits.

Then there are the obvious things to eat and drink lots of:

  • Water
  • Green vegetables

Then there is the list of acid reflux causes that can be very person specific. I watched my diet closely and made notes of the things that give me acid reflux. This list includes:

  • Sugar
  • Coffee
  • Bread
  • Smoking
  • Bananas
  • Crisps
  • Extremely fatty food

The above are my main list I filtered over the years. I also had to make changes to my eating habits. For example when I did not eat a healthy breakfast, or skipped breakfast, I would get heartburn during the day. I also changed the amounts of food I ate. I now eat small meals all through the day, keeping my stomach busy and in balance. They call it foraging. Healthy breakfast – Snack – Lunch – Snack – Dinner – Small snack.

Remember to drink lots of water and eat raw green vegetables.

Reflux Treatment – Simple Lifestyle Changes

Coffee and acid reflux

Coffee and acid reflux

Proton Pump Inhibitors

Proton Pump Inhibitors

Proton Pump Inhibitors does exactly what the word say, they “inhibit” and to inhibit a natural function of the body cannot be a good thing can it? For short periods they are okay.

I believe in a natural, holistic approach. This belief did not happen overnight I developed my own solutions, reflux diet etc, but one acid reflux home remedy system put it all together for me in a wholesome way. More detail later, first more about what I did to solve my heartburn problems.

I paid thousands of dollars for medical procedures and medication to solve my GERD problems, but nothing really worked. I was better informed and I knew what my problem was, but for the price of a good book I could have found the problem right here on the internet.

My biggest problem was stress first and diet second. After all the medication and procedures I knew I had a sensitive sphincter. The positive side of all those procedures was that I at least knew I did not have a tear in my diaphragm. If you struggle with sever acid reflux, get it checked out by a doctor, just to be on the safe side. Before you do that though, use a natural acid reflux cure for a while, see if this gets things under control. If not, make an appointment with your local gastroenterologist.

I had to swallow cameras twice, my own choice. I wanted to get a second opinion. Now I know for certain that my problem is a sensitive gastro system. I found a holistic system and started working on my lifestyle.

First on the list was stress.

Second on the list was diet.

To get my stress under control I made one simple choice. Laugh out loud at least three times a day, hand out genuine smiles to as many people as possible. It really was that simple for me.

I had to make a very specific acid reflux diet part of my life. Specific foods and substances should be avoided at all cost by someone with a reflux problem. Top of the list are:

  • Smoking
  • Painkillers
  • Coffee

Coffee. My biggest vice. I had to take things down a few notches. From about six cups a day to my current two. This really made a big difference for me.

Smoking. I am an occasional smoker, but every time I light a cigar, the reflux monster rears its head. I limit these occasions.

Painkillers. I do not drink many of these, but when I do drink them they do not really give me heartburn. For some though, this is a big reflux problem.

In the following post I talk about the different kinds of food I had to cut completely from my diet. I also give a quick list of foods that really helped me.

To bring it all together is a well developed holistic system that helped me heal my heartburn and acid reflux problems for good.
